Review process

All submissions to Journal of Research and Innovation for Sustainable Society are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief and his Associate Editors-in-Chief. At this stage, the manuscripts may be rejected without peer review if the proposed article is considered as not being relevant to the journal objectives and policies, or it does not meet minimum publishing requirements.

This fast screening process means that authors obtain a quick decision in maximum 5 working days from sending, and do not need to wait for the review process.

The manuscripts passing this phase will enter in a double-blind review process. It will be sent to two independent and anonymous reviewers, chosen according to their expertise in the field of the paper. Each reviewer will provide a report on the manuscript, based on the Journal of Research and Innovation for Sustainable Society review form and will make recommendations to the editor regarding the acceptance or rejection of the paper. The reviewers’ reports (along with Editor’s own comments, if case) will be made available to the corresponding author.The time period in which the manuscript stays to reviewers is usually 2-3 weeks. Based on the feedback from these reviewers and the Editors’ judgment, a decision is given on the manuscript, which could be:

- to accept the manuscript, with or without minor revision;

- to invite the authors to revise the manuscript to address specific concerns before a final decision is reached;

- to reject the manuscript, typically on grounds of specialist interest, lack of novelty, insufficient conceptual advance or major technical and/or interpretational problems.

The decision (along with the reviewers’ comments and suggestions) will be communicated to the corresponding author, within 5 working days from the receipt of the last review form. If the author resubmits the revised article, it enters into the second round of reviewing. At the end of this round, the editors, based on reviewers’ responses, will take a decision which will be immediately communicated to the author.

The final decision is taken by the Editor, who reserves the right to ask certain corrections. Any changes affecting the substance of the text will be made only with the agreement of the author. Submitted papers must be in English and should not have been published elsewhere or being currently under consideration by any other journal. Authors are kindly asked to submit their manuscript according to the corresponding template for each series. All manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to editing by the publisher for presentation, style and grammar. The Editor's committee decision is final.

Reviewing is performed in a confidential way and the article that you have been requested to review cannot be shown to third parties.
